I think that MOOCs are a wonderful advancement in knowledge sharing and democratisation of learning and would of never of been possible without the advent of Web 2.0 technologies.

Unfortunately, the headline that 2 million students start a course conjures up images of motivated people all over the world, seizing chances to improve their knowledge and their lives is somewhat spoiled as the article points out that “completion rates on MOOCs are significantly lower than for many other online courses – often less than 10 per cent”

It’s the same old story, people in general lack the discipline to see a goal through to completion once the novelty has passed and a task just becomes a case of hard work.
